During this 5 week course we will explore the foundations of Yoga Including:

• What is Yoga?
• Asana (postures) practice
• An overview of various schools of yoga
• The 8 Limbs of Yoga
• Introduction to meditation
• Breathing techniques (Pranayama)
• Relaxation (Yoga Nidra)

We will mainly focus on yoga asana and build a strong foundation from which to develop our practice, with awareness of tailoring postures to our body types and understanding alignment principles.

We will begin to introduce the more subtle aspects of yoga like pranayama (breathing techniques), mantras, meditation as movement.

The art of meditation and mindfulness will be explored.

Yoga texts like Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras will be mentioned as a means to explore the practical applications they can have in our daily life.

The course is suited to beginners with no experience of yoga and for those with some experience wishing to explore the more subtle elements of yoga whilst also building on their yoga foundations.

There are 15 places available.

Energy Exchange: £39 – for 5 x 70 minute classes.

Mats will be provided will be available, if you have one please bring with you.

Also please bring a small cushion and blanket.
Yoga is best practiced on an empty stomach so avoid a heavy meal at least 90 minutes before class.

Wear comfortable, layered, clothing and bring a bottle of water please.
